Color-By-Vowel

A is red as a balloon floating taught against the little boy’s wrist outside of the 5 & Dime on the corner.

E is blue as the backdrop behind that 5 & Dime, a beautiful contrast to the rickety, bullet-grazed cement.

I is yellow as the lemon ice held fast in the little boy’s hand as he savors his Sunday treat, more careful not to drip on the steaming sidewalk than any more fortunate schoolmate.

O is orange as the fallen construction cone, squashed and unrighted across the dashed white lines.

U is brown as the mud that cakes his shoes, rough and clinging, drying after the morning rain.
